This week, we learned about sketchnoting and why it’s important. Sketchnoting is more than just doodling; it is a form of visual note-taking. It combines doodles and text to help students create their own form of unique notes that allows them to retain the information better.
Sketchnoting looks at notes as more of a story rather than a bunch of words from a lecture or a textbook. In high school, I disliked taking notes using the Cornell note-taking technique. However, with sketchnoting, I think those two techniques can be combined with having texts on one side of the page and the pictures on the other. Sketchnoting can also be combined in making mindmaps by adding images to accompany the connections between concepts. I definitely want to introduce my students to sketchnoting as an alternative way of taking notes!
