Double exposure in photography is a technique that layers two different exposures on a single image, merging two photographs into one. This technique creates a surreal feeling in the photograph and the two images can also work together to create a deeper meaning or symbolism.
Traditionally, the double exposure technique was used in film photography. However, it is possible (and a bit easier) to replicate this technique on a DSLR camera. Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras have a built-in setting that can help you create the effect. If your camera does not have this setting, the video below provides a quick tutorial on how to achieve it in Photoshop.
